Directions
Take Zykadia exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Carefully read the medication guide that comes with your prescription. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you may have.
Recommended Zykadia dosing: 450 mg by mouth once daily. Take with food.
Keep Zykadia at room temperature between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C) and out of reach of children.
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Zykadia is ceritinib.
Inactive ingredients in the 150 mg capsules include colloidal silicon dioxide, hard gelatin capsule shells, low substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, FD&C Blue # 2, gelatin, and titanium dioxide.
Inactive ingredients in the 150 mg tablets include colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, FD&C Blue # 2 aluminum lake, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol 4000, talc, and titanium dioxide.
Contraindications
There are no contraindications to Zykadia per the most recent Prescribing Information.
Cautions
- Before you begin taking Zykadia, talk to your doctor about:
- All the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your current health problems and past medical history
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
- Zykadia is associated with the following warnings and precautions:
- Gastrointestinal adverse reactions
- Liver problems
- Lung problems
- Abnormal heart rhythm (QT prolongation)
- High blood glucose
- Slow heart rate
- Pancreatitis
- Harm to an unborn baby. Effective contraception is recommended for females of childbearing age during treatment with Zykadia and for 6 months after taking the last dose. Condoms are recommended for males with female partners who are of childbearing age during treatment with Zykadia and for 3 months after the last dose.
Side Effects
Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, fatigue, decreased appetite, and weight loss are some common side effects associated with Zykadia; however, other side effects may also occur. Immediately inform your doctor of any side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
