Description
Ziextenzo (pegfilgrastim-bmez) is a medication prescribed to lower the chances of getting infections with a high fever in patients who have certain types of cancer and are receiving strong anti-cancer drugs that can cause a significant chance of severely low neutrophil counts (a certain type of white blood cell) with fever.
Ziextenzo 6 mg/0.6 mL is available in single-dose prefilled syringes for injection underneath the skin.

Directions
Your healthcare provider will determine an appropriate treatment plan for you, including the Ziextenzo dose. You or your caregiver shall also receive training on how to store, prepare, administer, and discard Ziextenzo properly. Contraindications
Patients with an allergy to pegfilgrastim or filgrastim should not receive Ziextenzo.
Cautions
- Before you begin treatment with Ziextenzo, talk to your healthcare provider about:
- All the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your current health problems and past medical history
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
- Ziextenzo may be associated with causing the following:
- Potentially fatal splenic rupture
- Acute respiratory distress syndrome
- Allergic reactions that may be severe
- Sickle cell crises
- Inflammation and damage to the part of the kidney that filters the blood
- High white blood cell counts
- Low platelet levels
- Capillary leak syndrome
- Tumor growth stimulatory effects on cancerous cells
- Myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia in patients who have breast and lung cancer
- Inflammation of the aorta
Side Effects
Bone pain and pain in the arms and legs are the most common side effects of Ziextenzo. However, other side effects may also occur. Immediately inform your healthcare provider of side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
