Zavzpret (Zavegepant)

What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

    Directions

Use Zavzpret nasal spray as directed.

The recommended dose is to inhale one spray in one nostril as needed. Do not use more than one dose in 24 hours. The safety of treating more than 8 migraines in a 30-day period has not been determined.

Avoid test spraying, priming, or pressing the plunger before use.

    Using Zavzpret Nasal Spray

    1. Blow your nose gently.
    2. Take out one blister from the carton.
    3. Take out the device from the blister.
    4. Make sure the product has not expired. Properly discard if expired.
    5. Hold the device upright by putting your thumb on the bottom of the plunger and two fingers on each side of the nozzle.
    6. Close one nostril.
    7. Insert spray nozzle into the open nostril as much as you can comfortably.
    8. Keep your head level. Close your mouth. Slowly breathe in through your nose as you spray one time into the open nostril by pressing the plunger up with your thumb.
    9. Take the device out of your nostril and take your finger off your other nostril. Keep your head level for 20 seconds while breathing gently in through your nose and out through your mouth. If you feel dripping from your nose, sniff gently so you don’t lose any of the dose.
    10. Throw the used device into the trash.

Zavzpret should be stored at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F) and out of reach of children. The medication should not be frozen.
