Description
Voltaren Rapid (Diclofenac Potassium) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain, inflammation, and fever. Voltaren Rapid is used to treat a variety of conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It can also be used to relieve pain associated with dental procedures, menstrual cramps, and other types of acute pain.

Directions
The standard dosage is one tablet, taken with water, up to three or four times a day. The tablet should be swallowed whole, not chewed or crushed. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. It is important not to take more than the prescribed dose, as this can increase the risk of side effects. Carefully read the medication guide and follow your doctor's medical advice before taking the medication.
Ingredients
Voltaren Rapid tablets contain the active ingredient diclofenac potassium.
Contraindications
Avoid taking or using this medication if you have a history of any of the following:
- Allergic reaction to aspirin or other NSAIDs
- History of asthma, itching, or anaphylaxis to to aspirin or other NSAIDs
Voltaren should also be avoided for the relief of pain after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
Cautions
- Before taking Voltaren, it is important to inform your doctor about:
- Any medications you are taking, especially blood thinners and high blood pressure medications
- Any medical conditions you have, including liver problems, kidney problems, blood disorders, and asthma
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, Voltaren may cause harm to your unborn baby.
- Similarly, if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed, Voltaren can pass into your breastmilk and can cause harm to your baby.
- Long-term use or high doses of Voltaren may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Discuss the appropriate dosage and duration with your healthcare provider.
- Voltaren may cause ulcers, bleeding, or perforations in the stomach or intestines. Monitor for signs of these conditions, such as stomach pain or bloody stools.
- Monitor for signs of liver issues, like nausea, fatigue, itching, jaundice, or dark urine, as Voltaren can affect liver function.
- Voltaren might increase blood pressure, so regular monitoring may be necessary.
- This medication may cause serious skin reactions, like rashes or blisters. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice these symptoms.
- If you have asthma, Voltaren may worsen the condition. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any breathing problems while taking Voltaren.
- Drinking alcohol while taking Voltaren may increase the risk of stomach bleeding.
- Voltaren may cause serious allergic reactions. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience trouble breathing, a rash or hives, or swelling of your face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Voltaren include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own within a few days. However, if they persist or worsen, you should contact your doctor. In addition, Voltaren may cause dizziness, headaches, and drowsiness. If you experience any of these side effects, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
While uncommon, Voltaren Rapid may cause serious side effects. These include gastrointestinal bleeding and heart attacks, which can be fatal. If you experience any serious symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. In addition, if you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as rash, hives, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.
