Description
Vectical® Ointment contains calcitriol 3 mcg/g, a form of vitamin D3, formulated for topical application. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate plaque psoriasis in adults and pediatric patients aged 2 years and older. Calcitriol functions by modulating skin cell production and differentiation, thereby reducing the plaque formation characteristic of psoriasis.

Directions
Apply Vectical Ointment to the affected areas of the skin twice daily, in the morning and evening. For adults and children aged 7 years and older, the maximum weekly dose should not exceed 200 grams. For children aged 2 to 6 years, the maximum weekly dose should not exceed 100 grams. The ointment should not be applied to the eyes, lips, or facial skin. It is intended for topical use only and is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.

Contraindications
Vectical Ointment is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to calcitriol or any component of the formulation. Additionally, it should not be used in patients with hypercalcemia or evidence of vitamin D toxicity.
Cautions
- Calcium Metabolism: Monitor serum calcium levels during treatment. If hypercalcemia occurs, discontinue use until levels normalize.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid excessive exposure to natural or artificial sunlight on treated areas.
- Pediatric Use: Safety and efficacy in children under 2 years of age have not been established.
- Pregnancy and Nursing: Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. Caution is advised when administered to nursing mothers.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
- Skin discomfort or irritation at the application site.
Serious side effects may include:
- Hypercalcemia (elevated calcium levels), which can manifest as weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, or constipation.
