Description
Vaseretic contains two medications–enalapril maleate and hydrochlorothiazide–to treat high blood pressure.
Enalapril maleate is classified as an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor; it prevents the production of angiotensin II, leading to blood vessel dilation and lower blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic, or fluid pill; it works by causing the kidneys to get rid of excess water and sodium, leading to a decrease in blood pressure.
Vaseretic is available in an oral tablet formulation that contains 10 mg of enalapril maleate and 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide.
