Do not get the cream in your eyes.
Ingredients
Fluocinolone acetonide, a corticosteroid, is the active ingredient found in Synalar Cream.
Contraindications
Do not use Synalar Cream if you have an allergy to any of its ingredients.
Cautions
- Before you begin using Synalar Cream, talk to your doctor about:
- All the medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your current health conditions and past medical history
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
- Reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression can occur with the systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids, resulting in Cushing’s syndrome, high blood sugar, and glucose in the urine. Systemic absorption can be enhanced with the use of more potent steroids, applying the cream over large surface areas, using the cream long-term, and using occlusive dressings.
- Children may absorb more of the cream and have a higher risk of systemic toxicity.
- Stop using Synalar Cream if irritation occurs.
- Using Synalar Cream long-term can cause skin tissue breakdown. This may also occur with short-term use on the face or on areas where two skin areas rub against other.
Side Effects
Synalar Cream can cause the following side effects: burning, itching, irritation, dryness, inflamed hair follicles, excessive hair growth, acne, pigmentation changes, rash around the mouth, allergic contact dermatitis, skin maceration, secondary infection, skin breakdown, stretch marks, and heat rash. Call your doctor immediately if you have side effects that bother you or won’t resolve.
