The active ingredient in Selzentry tablets is Maraviroc.
Selzentry oral solution also contains 20 mg of maraviroc per mL.

Warnings and Precautions
WARNING: HEPATOTOXICITY
See full prescribing information for complete boxed warnings.
Hepatotoxicity has been reported which may be preceded by severe rash or other features of a systemic allergic reaction (e.g., fever, eosinophilia, or elevated IgE).
Immediately evaluate patients with signs or symptoms of hepatitis or allergic reaction.
Cautions
If you have severe kidney disease, you may not be able to take Selzentry if you use certain other medications. Tell your doctor about all other medications you use.
Selzentry may cause serious liver problems. Stop taking this medicine and seek medical treatment at once if you have a serious drug reaction that can harm your liver. Symptoms may include: itching or rash, vomiting, upper stomach pain, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Side Effects
- You should discuss any allergies you may have with your doctor. Selzentry may contain ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction in those who are allergic to maraviroc or any of the ingredients in Selzentry.
- Make sure you tell your doctor about any medications you take, including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, and herbal supplements as some medicines may interact with Selzentry.
- Hepatotoxicity, or liver damage, with a severe rash or allergic reaction has been reported. Before starting Selzentry and at other times when clinically appropriate, labs including AST, ALT, and bilirubin should be obtained. If you develop a rash, an allergic reaction, or symptoms of hepatitis, hepatic laboratory parameters should be obtained and discontinuation of Selzentry should be considered.
- Severe and potentially life-threatening skin and allergic reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, hypersensitivity reaction, and toxic epidermal necrolysis, have been reported. Immediately stop taking Selzentry and monitor closely if you develop a rash, fever, fatigue, muscles aches, blisters, eye inflammation, or facial swelling. Liver aminotransferases should also be monitored.
- Tell your doctor if you have cardiovascular problems or if you have risk factors for cardiovascular problems. Cardiovascular events have been observed in patients taking Selzentry.
- If you have severe kidney problems or ESRD while taking Selzentry and you experience sudden drops in blood pressure when you stand from sitting or lying down, the dose should be decreased from 300 mg twice a day to 150 mg twice a day.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. There is not enough data regarding the effects and safety of taking Selzentry while pregnant. There is a pregnancy registry that collects information and monitors the health of mom and baby while taking Selzentry during your pregnancy.
- Tell your doctor if you breastfeed or plan to breastfeed. You should not breastfeed while taking Selzentry. You should also not breastfeed if you have HIV-1 because it can be passed to your baby through breastmilk.
