Description
Selexid is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections.
Selexid is available in a 200 mg oral tablet.
Directions
Take Selexid exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns, contact your doctor or pharmacy.
Your doctor will determine an appropriate dose and treatment duration for you. Swallow the tablets the whole. Take with food or immediately after a meal and with at least half a glass of fluid. Take while sitting or standing.
Do not stop taking Selexid until your treatment course is complete, even if you start feeling better.
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Selexid 200 mg tablets is pivmecillinam hydrochloride, a penicillin. Inactive ingredients include cellulose microcrystalline, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, simethicone and synthetic paraffin.
Contraindications
Selexid should not be administered to patients who are allergic to pivmecillinam hydrochloride, penicillin, or cephalosporins, who have a condition that makes their food pipe narrow, or who have a condition that decreases the amount of carnitine in the body.

- Before you start treatment with Selexid, talk to your doctor about:
- All the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your current health problems and past medical history
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhea, and vulvovaginal infection are possible Selexid side effects; however, these are not the only side effects that can occur. Contact your doctor right away if you develop side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
