Description
Your doctor may prescribe Seasonique for contraception, amenorrhea treatment, or to regulate your menstrual cycle. It contains both estrogen and progestin analogs.
Seasonique is designed to prevent pregnancy by suppressing ovulation and thickening cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach the egg.

Directions
Take one tablet by mouth daily for 91 days as directed on the package. Seasonique contains 84 active pills followed by seven inactive pills.
Take Seasonique at the same time every day to maximize its effectiveness.
Ingredients
The active ingredients in Seasonique are ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel.
Interactions
Many potential drug interactions with oral contraceptives can impact their effectiveness. Tell your doctor if you take any of the following:
- Carbamazepine
- Corticosteroids
- Cyclosporine
- Lamotrigine
- Nelfinavir
- Nevirapine
- Phenobarbital
- Phenytoin
- Rifabutin
- Rifampin
- Ritonavir
- St. John's Wort
- Theophylline
- Warfarin
Cautions
Seasonique should be used cautiously in women who smoke and are over 35 years of age or who have a history of a blood clot, heart attack, or stroke.
Tell your healthcare provider about a history of heart disease, liver problems, or high blood pressure.
Seasonique can increase the risk of metabolic problems like abnormal cholesterol and high blood sugar. Tell your doctor if you have a history of these problems.
Report any abnormal bleeding to your doctor immediately.
If you experience an increase in the magnitude or frequency of headaches while taking this drug, tell your doctor.

- Acne

- Appetite changes
- Breast tenderness or pain
- Changes in menstrual bleeding patterns
- Changes in weight or appetite
- Depression
- Edema
- Exacerbation of endometriosis or uterine fibroids

- Liver function disturbances
- Nausea or vomiting
- Rash
- Seizures
- Serious cardiovascular events
- Sleep disturbances
- Vaginal candidiasis or vaginitis
- Visual changes
