Description
Prevymis (Letermovir) is an antiviral drug classified as a cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNA terminase complex inhibitor. It blocks the viral DNA from replicating, helping to prevent infection. Doctors generally prescribe Prevymis to prevent CMV infection in patients who have received an allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell (bone marrow) transplant and are at high risk for CMV.
Directions
The standard dosage of Prevymis is 480 mg, taken once daily, either orally or intravenously. When taking with cyclosporine, the dose should be adjusted to 240 mg. If taking Prevymis orally, patients should swallow the tablet whole without crushing, chewing, or breaking it. They can take the medication with or without food. If received intravenously, the dose is administered over one hour each day. Avoid any dosage adjustments without consulting a healthcare provider.
