Description
OneTouch Ultra lancets are used to draw blood for glucose testing with minimal discomfort, using a lancing device to control penetration depth. The test strips work with specific glucose meters to accurately measure blood sugar levels by scanning a small blood sample multiple times. It's crucial to keep the meter and test strips at similar temperatures for reliable results. In addition, OneTouch Ultra control solution allows users to verify that their glucose meters and test strips are functioning properly.
Directions
Using the OneTouch Ultra lancets, test strips, and solution correctly is important for accurate blood glucose monitoring. Begin by washing and drying your hands thoroughly. Prepare the lancing device as described in the instructions. Insert a sterile lancet into the device, ensuring that it is aligned properly. Remove the lancing device cap for easy access.
When you're ready to test, insert a OneTouch Ultra test strip into the meter. Make sure the meter and test strips are at the same temperature before testing. Follow the meter prompts to obtain and apply the blood sample.
For fingertip testing, position the lancing device firmly against your fingertip. Press the release button to puncture the skin gently. Allow a drop of blood to form and touch the test strip to the blood sample. Use the OneTouch Ultra control solution to verify the meter's performance regularly. Shake the control solution well and discard the first drop. Apply the solution to the test strip just like a blood sample.
Cautions
When using OneTouch Ultra products, there are several important cautions to consider to ensure accurate and safe testing.
- Keep all testing supplies, including test strips and lancets, away from children. Small parts can pose a choking hazard. Handle lancets carefully to avoid accidental needle-stick injuries.
- Always use sterile lancets and OneTouch Ultra Test Strips designed specifically for the OneTouch Ultra blood glucose meter. Using alternative products may lead to incorrect results and potential health risks.
- Be aware of potential allergic reactions to materials used in the test strips or lancets. If irritation or hypersensitivity occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
- If a meter malfunctions or provides an error reading, consult the user manual or contact customer support for assistance. Inaccurate blood glucose measurements can lead to inappropriate treatment decisions.
- Keep track of product expiration dates. Using expired products may affect test accuracy, leading to potential mismanagement of diabetes. Always check dates before use to ensure the reliability of results.
