What is a Generic Drug?
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description
OneTouch Ultra lancets are used to draw blood for glucose testing with minimal discomfort, using a lancing device to control penetration depth. The test strips work with specific glucose meters to accurately measure blood sugar levels by scanning a small blood sample multiple times. It's crucial to keep the meter and test strips at similar temperatures for reliable results. In addition, OneTouch Ultra control solution allows users to verify that their glucose meters and test strips are functioning properly.
Directions
Using the OneTouch Ultra lancets, test strips, and solution correctly is important for accurate blood glucose monitoring. Begin by washing and drying your hands thoroughly. Prepare the lancing device as described in the instructions. Insert a sterile lancet into the device, ensuring that it is aligned properly. Remove the lancing device cap for easy access.
When you're ready to test, insert a OneTouch Ultra test strip into the meter. Make sure the meter and test strips are at the same temperature before testing. Follow the meter prompts to obtain and apply the blood sample.
For fingertip testing, position the lancing device firmly against your fingertip. Press the release button to puncture the skin gently. Allow a drop of blood to form and touch the test strip to the blood sample. Use the OneTouch Ultra control solution to verify the meter's performance regularly. Shake the control solution well and discard the first drop. Apply the solution to the test strip just like a blood sample.

When using OneTouch Ultra products, there are several important cautions to consider to ensure accurate and safe testing.
