Description
Onbrez Breezhaler is used for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. It works by relaxing the airway muscles, keeping the airways open. Onbrez Breezhaler is available by prescription only.
Onbrez Breezhaler comes in capsules that contain a powder for inhalation. The capsules should only be used with an Onbrez Breezhaler device; do not swallow the capsules. Place the capsule into the inhaler and breathe the powder in through the mouth.
Directions
Use Onbrez Breezhaler exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Carefully read the information leaflet that comes with your prescription. Your healthcare provider should teach you how to properly use Onbrez Breezhaler. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you have about the medication.
The recommended dosage is 150 mcg capsule once daily. Use at the same time each day. Your doctor may adjust your dose, depending on the severity of your COPD.
Store below 30°C (86°F).
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Onbrez Breezhaler is indacaterol. Lactose and gelatin are other ingredients included.
Contraindications
Patients with an allergy to any of the ingredients in Onbrez Breezhaler should not use the medication.
Cautions
- Before you begin using Onbrez Breezhaler, talk to your doctor about:
- All the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your current health problems and past medical history
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
- Onbrez Breezhaler should not be used to treat asthma or for rescue treatment.
- Hypersensitivity reactions can occur immediately after using Onbrez Breezhaler. Seek emergency care right away if you have trouble breathing or swallowing; swelling of the tongue, lips, or face; rash; or hives.
- Paradoxical bronchospasm can occur and can be life-threatening. If this occurs, stop using Onbrez Breezhaler and seek medical care right away.
- Onbrez Breezhaler should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular, convulsive, or thyroid conditions.
- Onbrez Breezhaler can cause low potassium levels.
- Onbrez Breezhaler can cause high blood sugar levels.
- Lactose is contained in the capsules. Onbrez Breezhaler should not be used by patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Side Effects
The most common Onbrez Breezhaler side effects include inflammation of the nose and throat, upper respiratory tract infection, chest pain, cough, and muscle cramps. Contact your doctor right away if you have side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
