How does Lumigan RC work?
Lumigan RC works by increasing the drainage of fluid (aqueous humor) from the eye and reducing the production of this fluid. This helps lower IOP and prevent damage to the optic nerve.
What are the common uses of Lumigan RC?
Lumigan RC is primarily used to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It can also be prescribed for eyelash growth when applied to the eyelashes as Latisse.
How should I use Lumigan RC eye drops?
Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Generally, you will apply one drop of Lumigan RC to the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to prevent contamination.
Are there any side effects associated with Lumigan RC?
Yes, some common side effects may include eye redness, itching, darkening of eyelashes, or changes in eye color. Less common side effects may include eye irritation, dryness, or blurred vision. Consult your healthcare provider for a complete list of potential side effects.
Can I use Lumigan RC if I wear contact lenses?
Lumigan RC contains a preservative that may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. It is advisable to remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
Is Lumigan RC safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
It is essential to discuss the use of Lumigan RC with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as the medication may not be suitable in these situations.
Can Lumigan RC be used in children?
Lumigan RC is typically not prescribed for children unless specifically directed by a pediatric ophthalmologist.
How long does it take for Lumigan RC to show results?
It may take several weeks of consistent use to notice a reduction in intraocular pressure. Be patient and continue using Lumigan RC as prescribed by your doctor.
Can I drive or operate heavy machinery while using Lumigan RC?
Lumigan RC may cause blurred vision as a side effect. It's essential to wait until your vision has cleared before engaging in activities that require full concentration, such as driving or operating heavy machinery.
