    Hypurin R is a short-acting insulin for pets and is the pet insulin equivalent of Humulin R or Novolin R for humans. It is used for pet blood sugar control with dog diabetes or cat diabetes and is administered as an injection in the same way those two medications are for humans. Insulin regular is standard as a short-acting insulin, and it is designed for immediate blood glucose control after eating meals. The Hypurin regular injection may be prescribed for dogs or cats, and with every-meal daily dosing it has a peak of 2 to 3 hours and duration of 3 to 6 hours.

    Suitable insulin injection sites for pets are the loose skin just above the shoulder blades or around the flank or belly of the animal.     Tell your veterinarian if your dog or cat has any history of liver or kidney disease, insulin resistance, steroid or hormone therapy, or bleeding disorders / excessive bleeding before starting on Hypurin R for pets

    Changing exact injection site with each injection is recommended to reduce the chance of lipodystrophy at injection site

    Keep Hypurin R for pets stored at 36Ā°F to 46Ā°F (2Ā°C to 8Ā°C) or at room temperature below 86Ā°F (30Ā°C) as indicated in your prescription. Keep opened vials stored at a temperature less than 77Ā°F (25Ā°C), but any unused vials must be discarded after 42 days.

    Interactions
