Directions
Hymovis is available in a set of two 5 mL syringes. Each syringe is for single use only and contains a 3 mL dose of Hymovis that should be injected one week apart. Hymovis should be injected into the intra-articular space of the knee.
The contents of the syringe should be used immediately after opening the package. Any remaining Hymovis should be discarded.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist any questions you may have.
Ingredients
Each syringe contains 8 mg/mL of a hyaluronan.
Contraindications
Hymovis should not be used in patients who are allergic to hyaluronate or gram-positive bacterial proteins.
Hymovis should not be used in patients who have a skin disease or infection at or near the injection site.
Cautions
- Before you start taking Hymovis, tell your doctor:
- About any allergies you may have
- About any medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications
- About your health conditions
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
- Strict and sterile techniques should be followed for the administration of Hymovis.
- Disinfectants that contain quaternary ammonium salts should not be used with the administration of Hyomvis. This can cause the precipitation of hyaluronate.
- Knee pain or swelling may occur after injection Hymovis.
- Strenuous activity should be avoided for at least 48 hours after receiving an Hymovis injection.
- Hymovis syringes should be stored at room temperature below 77° F (25° C).
Side Effects
Potential side effects of Hymovis include infection, joint pain, joint stiffness, joint swelling, knee pain, injection site pain, injection site redness, and injection site swelling. These are not all of the possible side effects. Contact your doctor right away if you experience bothersome or persistent side effects.
