Description
The Histofreezer Portable Cryosurgical System is an effective tool healthcare professionals use to remove benign skin lesions such as warts, skin tags, and actinic keratoses. This system uses a liquid refrigerant to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue.
Its portability makes it suitable for various healthcare environments, including primary care and dermatology clinics. Only trained professionals should use this system, as improper use can cause significant skin damage and other serious complications.
Directions
Only trained healthcare professionals should use this product.
First, the healthcare provider selects the appropriate applicator tip based on the lesion size. The tip is then saturated with the refrigerant by pressing it into the canister.
Once saturated, the applicator is applied directly to the lesion for a specific period, typically 15-40 seconds, depending on the lesion’s type and size.
Mechanism of Action
The freezing action of the Histofreezer system destroys the targeted lesion, which will then gradually detach over several days to weeks as the skin naturally heals.
Ingredients
The main component of the Histofreezer system is its liquid refrigerant, which contains dimethyl ether and propane. This mixture enables the rapid freezing of the targeted tissue.
Cautions
Healthcare providers should evaluate the individual risks for each patient before proceeding with cryosurgery.
To prevent damage to surrounding healthy tissue, it is essential to follow the instructions for using Histofreezer precisely. The product should not be used too long or with too much pressure to avoid necrosis.
Patients with poor circulation or conditions like diabetes should use the system cautiously, as they may be more prone to complications from skin treatments.
Additionally, this treatment can change skin pigmentation in some patients, particularly after subsequent sun exposure.
Side Effects
Common side effects of this drug may include:
- Painful sensation
- Pigmentation changes
- Stinging sensation
