Description
GenVisc 850 (sodium hyaluronate) is a sterile medication that is injected into the knees to treat knee pain caused by osteoarthritis in patients who did not achieve adequate relief from conservative treatment or simple pain relievers.

Directions
GenVisc 850 is available in 3 mL pre-filled syringes. Each syringe is for single use only and should be used immediately after opening the packaging. The contents of the syringe are injected into the intra-articular space of the knee joint and any remainder should be discarded.

Ingredients
There is 25 mg of sodium hyaluronate in each 3 mL pre-filled syringe.
Contraindications
Do not use GenVisc 850 if you have any allergies to sodium hyaluronate or any other ingredient in GenVisc 850.
Do not use GenVisc 850 if you have a skin condition or infection at or near the injection site.
Cautions
- Before you begin using GenVisc 850, tell your doctor:
- If you have any allergies
- About all the medications you take, including prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins and herbal supplements.
- If you have any health conditions
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
- Administer GenVisc 850 using a strict and sterile technique.
- Do not use GenVisc 850 with disinfectants that contain quaternary ammonium salts for the skin. This can cause the precipitation of sodium hyaluronate.
- After injecting GenVisc 850, joint pain and/or swelling may occur.
- You should avoid strenuous activity within at least 48 hours of injecting GenVisc 850.
- Store GenVisc 850 away from light at temperatures below 86°F (30° C). Do not store it in the freezer.
Side Effects
The side effects of GenVisc 850 may include an allergic reaction, pain at the injection site, bleeding at the injection site, joint pain, and joint stiffness.
Call your doctor right away if you experience bothersome or continuous side effects.
