Directions
Eysuvis is an eye drop suspension that contains 2.5 mg/mL of loteprednol etabonate.
Follow the instructions that come with your Eysuvis prescription. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you have about your prescription.
Before using Eysuvis, wash your hands thoroughly. To prevent contamination, keep the dropper tip from touching surfaces. Shake the bottle for 2 to 3 seconds. Place one to two drops into each eye four times a day.
Wait at least 5 minutes between using Eysuvis and other eye drops.
Remove contact lenses before using Eysuvis. You may reinsert them 15 minutes after using Eysuvis.
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Eysuvis is loteprednol etabonate, a corticosteroid.
Contraindications
Do not use Eysuvis if you have a viral eye disease such as epithelial herpes simplex keratitis, vaccinia, and varicella.
Do not use Eysuvis if you have a mycobacterial eye infection or fungal eye disease.
Cautions
- Before you start treatment with Eysuvis, inform your doctor:
- Of all the medications you take. These include prescription, nonprescription, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
- Of your allergies.
- Of your health conditions.
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
- If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
- Eysuvis may cause prolonged healing and perforation of the cornea.
- Using Eysuvis for a long period of time may cause vision problems such as glaucoma.
- Eysuvis may cause cataracts.
- Eysuvis may increase the risk of secondary eye infections and mask or worsen an existing infection.
- Eysuvis can lengthen the course of or worsen viral eye infections such as herpes simplex. Caution should be used if you have ever had herpes simplex.
- Using Eysuvis for a long period of time can increase the risk of fungal corneal infections.
Side Effects
Eysuvis can cause side effects such as pain in the instillation site. However, this is not the only possible side effect of Eysuvis. Contact your doctor right away if you have side effects that become troublesome or persistent.
