Description
Eulexin (flutamide) is an oral medication prescribed alongside other therapies to treat men with some types of prostate cancer.
Eulexin (flutamide) is available in 125 mg capsules.
The brand product is no longer available in the US; however, generic alternatives may be available.
Directions
Take Eulexin (flutamide) exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Usual Eulexin (flutamide) dosage: Patients with prostate cancer generally take 2 capsules (250 mg) by mouth every 8 hours.
Store at room temperature, out of reach of children and pets; protect from light and moisture.
Refer to the medication guide that comes with your prescription for additional instructions for use.

Ingredients
The active ingredient in Eulexin is flutamide.
Contraindications
Do not take Eulexin (flutamide) if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or if you have severe liver disease.
Cautions
- Before you begin treatment with Eulexin (flutamide), discuss the following with your doctor:
- All the medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, supplements, and herbals
- Any allergies you may have
- Your current health problems and past medical history
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Liver damage can occur with Eulexin (flutamide) use that may result in hospitalization or death. Immediately call your doctor if you experience appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, stomach/abdominal pain, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, achy muscles, soreness, brown urine, or yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, as these may be signs of liver failure.
- Some patients may experience aniline toxicity (methemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia, etc.).
- The risk of cardiovascular disease may be increased by androgen deprivation.
- Eulexin (flutamide) is for use in men only–women should avoid taking the medication.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not touch or take the medication.
Side Effects
Hot flashes, loss of sex drive, impotence, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, breast enlargement in men, and rash are possible side effects that can occur while taking Eulexin (flutamide).
If you experience diarrhea, make sure you drink plenty of fluids as directed by your doctor to help prevent dehydration. You may also try decreasing your consumption of dairy products while increasing your consumption of whole grains, fruits, and veggies. Your doctor may tell you to stop taking laxatives and start taking an anti-diarrheal. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
Call your doctor right away if you have side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
