Description
What is Cytomel Used For?
Cytomel (Liothyronine)
Cytomel is an artificial thyroid hormone that is given to a patient whose thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormones. The thyroid gland plays the important role in regulating the body's energy and metabolism. In growing children, it plays an essential role in their growth and learning process. Cytomel is given to patients when there is under production of the thyroid hormones (hypothyroidism).
Underproduction usually results from injury to the thyroid gland due to medication, radiation, or surgical removal of the gland. Symptoms of hypothyroidism include tiredness, muscle aches, slow heartbeat, weight gain, dry skin, and sensitivity to cold. Cytomel acts by replacing or providing more thyroid hormone, which is otherwise produced normally by our bodies.
Cytomel is also used to treat or prevent goiter (enlarged thyroid gland) and other thyroid disorders like thyroid cancer. Cytomel should not be used for obesity or weight problems.
You can buy Cytomel online from Canada Pharmacy.
Directions
Cytomel should be used as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose is one tablet daily. Preferably, it should be taken at the same time each day to maintain constant thyroid levels. Your doctor may occasionally alter your dose to get the best results.
To be sure that Cytomel is improving your condition, blood tests to test thyroid levels have to be often done. If your physician switches you to Cytomel from some other thyroid medication, stop the other treatment before starting with Cytomel.
Thyroid replacement treatment is usually taken for life.
