Description
Ciloxan is a prescription antibiotic eye ointment used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, like conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. These infections can cause redness, pain, and discharge, and if left untreated, may lead to more serious complications.
Ciprofloxacin, the active ingredient in Ciloxan, belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme essential for bacterial replication, thereby killing the bacteria and treating the infection.
