What is a Generic Drug?
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description
Benzac W Wash 10% is a topical cleanser containing Benzoyl Peroxide, classified as an antibacterial agent. It helps treat acne by reducing bacteria on the skin and drying excess oils, preventing clogged pores. It may also help to soothe inflammation and redness associated with breakouts. Regular use may lead to a clearer complexion and improved skin texture over time.
Directions
When using the Benzac wash, begin by wetting the affected area. Apply a small amount of the wash and gently work it into a full lather for 10-20 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat the skin dry with a clean towel. Apply the wash once or twice daily, depending on skin tolerance and as directed by a healthcare provider.
Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and any broken or irritated skin. Always wash hands after application. Benzac W Wash 10% may increase sensitivity to sunlight; it's advisable to use sunscreen or wear protective clothing outdoors. Cautions

- Using multiple acne treatments at the same time may cause irritation. If this happens, stick to using only one topical acne medication.

- Keep the wash away from your eyes, lips, mouth, and avoid contact with hair and dyed fabrics, as it may cause bleaching.
- Skin irritation may occur, such as redness, burning, itching, peeling, or swelling. Reduce the frequency of use or switch to a lower concentration if irritation becomes a problem.
- A mild burning sensation, redness, or peeling is expected at the beginning of treatment but should subside. If severe irritation occurs, stop or reduce the use of the product.
- Discontinue use if swelling or blistering of the skin develops.
- Avoid applying to sensitive areas like the neck or damaged skin to reduce the risk of irritation.
- Avoid exposure to sunlight or UV radiation while using Benzac W Wash to prevent further irritation.
- This product may bleach colored materials, including fabrics and hair, so take care with contact.
Side Effects
The most frequent side effects of Benzac W Wash 10% include dry skin, redness (erythema), and skin peeling. You may also feel a burning sensation on the treated areas, which is common and typically lessens as your skin adjusts to the treatment. Some individuals may experience itching, mild pain, or skin irritation, but these effects are often manageable by reducing the frequency of use.
In rare cases, Benzac W Wash 10% can cause allergic contact dermatitis, which may result in swelling or a rash. Very rarely, severe allergic reactions, including facial swelling or difficulty breathing, have been reported. If you notice any of these more serious symptoms, stop using the product and seek medical attention right away.
