Description
What is cyclosporine used for pets?
ATOPICA (cyclosporine capsules USP) MODIFIED is a new therapy for the control of atopic dermatitis. Unlike other frequently prescribed products, Atopica selectively targets certain specific immune cells responsible for the dogs allergic response. Atopica is an oral form of cyclosporine that immediately forms a microemulsion in an aqueous environment. Cyclosporine, the active ingredient in ATOPICA, is a cyclic polypeptide, immune modulating agent consisting of 11 amino acids. It is produced as a metabolite by the fungal species Beauveria nivea.
Directions
ATOPICA should be given at least 2 hours before or after feeding. Insert the capsule directly into the pet's mouth. If a dose is missed, next dose to be administered (without doubling) as soon as possible, but dose no more than once daily.
ATOPICA will initially be given daily until a satisfactory clinical improvement is seen. This will generally be the case within 4 weeks. If no response is obtained within the first 8 weeks, the treatment should be stopped.
