Description
Airsupra (albuterol and budesonide) is an inhaler used to treat or prevent bronchoconstriction and to decrease the risk of worsening asthma in patients who are at least 18 years old.
Airsupra is available as a pressurized metered dose inhaler. Each actuation delivers 90 mcg of albuterol and 80 mcg of budesonide.

Directions
Use Airsupra as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will determine an appropriate treatment regimen for you.
Carefully read the medication guide that comes with your prescription for information on how to properly use the inhaler. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions or concerns you may have.
Recommended dosing: Inhale two puffs by mouth as needed. Do not exceed more than 6 doses (12 inhalations) within 24 hours. The inhaler should be primed before using it for the first time. It should be re-primed if it has not been used for more than 7 days, if it is dropped, or after cleaning.
Store Airsupra in a dry place away from heat and light exposure. Keep away from children. Keep at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Properly discard when the counter reads “0”.

Ingredients
The active ingredients in Airsupra are albuterol and budesonide.
Inactive ingredients include hydrofluoroalkane (HFA 134a) and porous particles 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DSPC) and calcium chloride.
Contraindications
Patients with an allergy to albuterol, budesonide, or to any of the excipients should not use Airsurpa.
Cautions
- Before you start using Airsupra, talk to your doctor about:
- All the prescription and over-the-counter medications you take
- Your allergies
- Your current health problems and past medical history
- Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
- Airsurpa is associated with the following warnings and precautions:
- Paradoxical bronchospasm
- Cardiovascular effects
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Low potassium levels in the blood
- Worsening of infections, including tuberculosis, fungal, bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections or herpes simplex of the eyes
- Fungal infections of the mouth or throat. Patients should be advised to rinse their mouth with water and spit after inhalation.
- Hypercorticism and adrenal suppression, especially at high doses in patients who are susceptible
- Glaucoma and cataracts
- Do not use more than the maximum recommended dosage, as death can occur with excessive use.
- Patients with convulsive disorders, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and ketoacidosis should exercise caution when using Airsurpa.
- Patients at risk for decreased bone mineral density should be monitored during treatment with Airsurpa.
Side Effects
Headache, fungal infections of the mouth or throat, cough, and voice disorders are common side effects associated with Airsurpa; however, other side effects may also occur. Immediately inform your doctor of any side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
