Can Microneedling Cause Acne

Can Microneedling Cause Acne

Someone who’s never heard the term microneedling before might assume that it has something to do with sewing. But the types of needles that are used with this outpatient procedure are tiny ones on a roller that puncture the skin ever so slightly. The science behind that is when the skin is wounded part of the healing process involves collagen production in the skin being increased. Collagen does wonders for the elasticity of skin and giving it a more firm and youthful look. But can microneedling cause acne?

It’s going to be teens and young adults most concerned about this, and interestingly enough it’s them who stand to benefit most from face microneedling. Their youth means they have those higher collagen levels to begin with. But they’ll also be more prone to getting acne. Microneedling can still be effective for improving skin quality when you’re older, but not to the same extent. Those older men and women aren’t going to have overactive sebaceous glands though, and they won’t be getting acne from microneedling.

We could say they probably won’t be asking can black mold cause acne either because it’s unlikely they’d be living in a home where moisture buildup in the walls is a possibility. And if they were living in such a dwelling they probably wouldn’t be going for skin care procedures in the first place. Enough about all of that. Getting acne is a legit concern for young people as this is the time in a person’s life when they want to be getting as much nookie as possible.

Entryways & Inflammation

Acne is caused when bacteria get into pores and cause them to become inflamed, and then blocked if a blackhead or whitehead develops. Sometime microneedling is used to treat acne scars and improve skin appearance this way. But it makes sense that if the skin is being pricked open by the needles then maybe that’s just the opportunity those acne-causing bacteria need to get in there. This is why people will ask can microneedling cause acne. It can be the reason, especially if you’re more likely to have it in the first place.

The same question can be asked for dermaplaning, and if that might be among acne causes for young people too. Both procedures can make a person get acne, and the other reason that’s possible is because the skin will become inflamed naturally as it heals from the needling or dermaplaning. This inflammation may supercharge the pore inflammation / clogging process of acne for a short time as the skin gets over the initial trauma of the microneedling treatment. The answer’s also no for can starving yourself cause acne.

One thing that you can know is if you get acne easily and you’re having a microneedling treatment then it becomes important to keep your skin very clean following the procedure. You can expect the clinic to make you aware of how to best do that. That’s all there is to say about can microneedling cause acne. It is possible that you may get acne from microneedling.
