Directions
Trulance is available in 3 mg tablets. The tablets should be swallowed whole. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are unable to swallow the tablets whole or if you have a nasogastric or gastric feeding tube.
Recommended adult dosing:
CIC: 3 mg by mouth once daily with or without food
IBS-C: 3 mg by mouth once daily with or without food

- TRULANCE is contraindicated in patients less than 6 years of age; in young juvenile mice, plecanatide caused death due to dehydration.
- Avoid use of TRULANCE in patients 6 years to less than 18 years of age.
- The safety and effectiveness of TRULANCE have not been established in patients less than 18 years of age.
- Before you start taking Trulance, tell your doctor:
- About your medical history and health conditions
- About your allergies
- About all the medications you take, including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, and herbal supplements
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
- Trulance has not proven to be safe or effective in patients less than 18 years old. Avoid use in these patients.
Side Effects
The most common side effect of Trulance is diarrhea. Diarrhea usually begins within the first month of taking Trulance and may become severe. If you experience severe diarrhea, stop taking Trulance and contact your doctor right away.
Diarrhea is not the only possible side effect of Trulance. Contact your doctor right away if you experience any side effects that are bothersome or won't go away.
