What is a Generic Drug?

    Directions

    Use Tri-Luma Cream as directed by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your prescription, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

    The recommended dose is to apply a thin layer of Tri-Luma Cream to the affected area(s) one time a day, at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Wash your hands after using.

    Avoid sun exposure, and protect your skin during the day by wearing sunscreen of at least SPF 30 and protective clothing.

    Ingredients

    The active ingredients in Tri-Luma Cream include fluocinolone acetonide (a corticosteroid), hydroquinone (a melanin synthesis inhibitor), and tretinoin (a retinoid).

    Inactive ingredients include butylated hydroxytoluene, cetyl alcohol, citric acid anhydrous, glycerin, glyceryl stearate, magnesium aluminum silicate, methyl gluceth-10, methylparaben, PEG-100 stearate, propylparaben, purified water, sodium metabisulfite, stearic acid, and stearyl alcohol.

    Contraindications

    Do not use Tri-Luma Cream if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.

    Cautions

    • Before you start using Tri-Luma Cream, inform your doctor of:
      • All the medications you use, including other topical lotions, creams, and ointments
      • Your allergies
      • Your current health conditions and past medical history
      • Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
    • Sodium metabisulfite is present in Tri-Luma Cream, which can cause allergic reactions, including anaphylactic symptoms and serious asthmatic episodes, in patients who are susceptible. Seek emergency care right away if you have trouble breathing, a rash, swelling of your face, lips, or tongue, or any other symptoms of an allergic reaction.
    • Tri-Luma Cream contains hydroquinone, which may cause blue-black darkening of the skin. Immediately contact your doctor and avoid using Tri-Luma Cream if this occurs.
    • Tri-Luma Cream contains fluocinolone acetonide, which may cause reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression if absorbed systemically. Cushing’s syndrome, high blood glucose, and glucose in the urine may occur.
    • Tri-Luma Cream can cause skin irritation, reddening, peeling, burning, dryness, and itching at the application site. Tell your doctor right away if you experience any of these reactions. Patients are recommended to avoid using soaps, cleansers, and cosmetics that are medicated, abrasive, drying, or highly concentrated with alcohol and astringents.

    Side Effects

    Skin redness, burning, peeling, dryness, and itching are common side effects of Tri-Luma Cream. Other side effects can also occur. Call your doctor right away if you have bothersome or persistent side effects.
