A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

    Description

    Myrbetriq is used to treat adults who have overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.

    It is also used to treat neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) in pediatric patients who are at least 3 years old and weigh at least 35 kg.

    Myrbetriq 25 mg extended-release oral tablets and Myrbetriq 50 mg extended-release oral tablets (mirabegron extended-release tablets) are available with a valid prescription.

    Take Myrbetriq exactly as prescribed by your doctor. For additional instructions for use, refer to the medication guide that accompanies your prescription.

    Recommended starting dose for adults with OAB: Take 25 mg by mouth once a day. The dose may be increased to 50 mg by mouth once a day after 4-8 weeks.

    Recommended dosing for pediatric patients with NDO is based on weight and will be determined by the doctor.

    Store Myrbetriq extended-release tablets between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F).

    Ingredients

    The active ingredient in Myrbetriq is mirabegron.

    Inactive ingredients in Myrbetriq tablets include butylated hydroxytoluene, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, polyethylene oxide, red ferric oxide (25 mg tablet only), and yellow ferric oxide.

    Contraindications

    Patients with an allergy to mirabegron or to any of the inactive ingredients in Myrbetriq should not take it.

    Cautions

      • Your current health problems and past medical history
      • Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
    • Myrbetriq is associated with several warnings and precautions:
      • High blood pressure
      • Urinary retention in patients who have bladder outlet obstruction or are being treated with muscarinic antagonist medications for OAB
      • Angioedema, or swelling under the skin, of the face, tongue, lips, and/or larynx

    Side Effects

    High blood pressure, common cold, headache, urinary tract infection, dry mouth, constipation, and rapid heart rate are common Myrbetriq side effects. Immediately call your doctor if you experience side effects that bother you or won’t go away.
